Volunteer teachers: The heart and soul of our schools
Our teachers are some of the most important assets on the ground in Cambodia. Without them, our students and schools would not be able to function.
Currently, the teachers at our schools are not earning a liveable wage. Almost all of our volunteer teachers work or go to school full time and some are even working multiple jobs to afford to continue teaching. They take hours out of their days to show up and teach our students daily!
They’ve been donating their time for many years, even before The Hearts Company’s involvement with the community.
Research shows that great teachers help create great students. In fact, an inspiring and informed teacher is the most important school-related factor influencing student achievement. And we want to help make sure our teachers can be as great as they can be.
Here at The Hearts Company, we hope to one day be able to fund all of our teacher’s salaries. We want to sustainably fundraise the full amount of each teacher’s salary. Currently, we are only able to contribute $50 a month per teacher.
